Potholes, Road+Pavement Problems and how to report them

West Hill Parish Council often works with residents to report highway repairs and to try to resolve issues. At times it can be a frustrating process!  As you will appreciate local views on required repairs and timescales don't always fit well with Devon County Council's Highways available budget and priorities.

When something is reported a Devon County Council's Highways team will assess the problem.  If they consider work necessary it will be scheduled as follows

  1. It's likely that work will only be carried out quickly if it's classified as a "safety repair".
  2. If it's a non-safety" repair the work will probably be scheduled to be completed within the Financial Year.

As an example, over recent months residents and the Parish Council have reported the potholes at the junction of Warren Park and West Hill Road. Highways have visited the site and have classed the work required as a "non-safety" repair.  Highways have told us that they anticipate repair work will be done within the financial year.

Did you know that anyone can report a Highway problem such as potholes on the 'Report A Problem' page on the  Devon County Council website? if you report a problem you will get a reference number and will be able to track its progress.
